October 2025 Art Exhibition

Our annual art exhibition was held at The Galtres Centre over the weekend of the 18th and 19th October.

We had a wonderful turn out, with over 500 visitors. We were so grateful to all who attended and were delighted with the numerous positive comments about the high standard of art on display.

We would like to thank all our volunteers who helped over the weekend, including The Galtres team who set up the exhibition boards and ran the café.

Without them we wouldn’t be able to organise such a large event.

We also appreciated those who gave up their time to steward and man the raffle.

This year the raffle was in aid of St Monica’s Hospital.

We raised a magnificent £640. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.

Artists in Residence

Saturday 18th

Amy Barnes demonstrated how she draws her adorable animal pictures and completed several commissions of visitors’ pets.

Sunday 19th

Heather Burton was busy working on a palette knife composition and enjoyed chatting to visitors throughout the day and answering their questions.

Outwood Academy & Easingwold Primary

Outwood Academy and Easingwold Primary also exhibited over the weekend. It was lovely to see the work done by the students and we hope this will inspire them to continue with their artistic endeavours.

Thank you to Nick Cuthbert, a former Head of Art at Easingwold School, for having the tricky job of judging and awarding prizes to the students. We congratulate everyone who took part.

We loved featuring the self-portraits and pet portraits done by the younger children and were so pleased to see so many come in to proudly show their families.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the vote for Best in Show. Everyone was encouraged to choose their favourite piece, It goes without saying that we thank all the artists who exhibited. Without you all, the exhibition would not be able to take place!

As always, we are keen to promote our Friends of EDAS.  Your membership aids greatly with the financial costs of holding such a busy exhibition. This additional funding allows us to award prizes, invest in exhibition equipment and helps towards the hire of the facilities over the weekend. Your contribution also supports art in the community.

If you are interested in becoming a Friend you can pick up a leaflet from The Leaping Hare Gallery & Framers on Chapel Street in Easingwold.

You can also visit our friends page or email us at info@easingwoldartsociety.co.uk.

A final mention to Vira, who worked behind the scenes helping us promote the event, her knowledge and skills of all things technical were invaluable. We are already looking forward to next year and thank you so much for your continued support and hope to see you all again.
